Driving Group “Global Charter Agenda on Human Rights in the City”.

Dear Sir or Madam,

The Diputació de Barcelona is currently leading the drawing up of the “Global Charter Agenda on Human Rights in the City”. This project aims at promoting specific local policies which result in the social inclusion of all citizens in every city. We are now in the initial phase of the project and would like to inform you that the Driving Group is being created. This group has a political nature and is composed by cities that shall intervene in the definition of the strategics guidelines of this project. We are willing to articulate this Charter-Agenda within the context of the Forum of Local Authorites, where in fact this project was born during the VI FAL which was organised in Caracas in 2006.

From our perspective, inclusive challenges and the effective safeguarding of Human Rights imply, on the one hand, some specific political stands which must point to alternative ways of socialisation; and, on the other, the cooperation of all those agents who have enhanced the promotion of Human Rights. By drawing up a “Global Charter-Agenda on Human Rights in the City”, we want to contribute to the creation of municipal consensuses so that our cities become more human.

From the Diputació, we are pleased to invite you to become an active member to the Driving Group. Please, contact Miss Eva Garcia if you are interested in the project and in becoming a member of the Driving Group (garciache@diba.cat; tlf. 93 402 07 14).

Thank you very much for your attention.

Best wishes,
